Questions for Once I Purchase TalkLoop

What is TalkLoop?
TalkLoop is a low-cost alternative to your current long distance service. It is a great way to connect with your family and friends, both domestically and internationally. An innovative way to avoid the hassles of phone cards but still enjoy the great rates, TalkLoop is a convenient prepaid long distance service that works from your home, office, cellular phone, even payphone. Sign up now and you can instantly start saving money on your long distance phone calls.

Who should use TalkLoop?
If you make long distance phone calls, either domestic or international long distance, TalkLoop is the economical solution for your calling needs. It is a high-quality voice service that works from any phone, any where in the United States. Tired of overpaying for long distance? Having to re-purchase phone cards time and time again? Frustrated with getting cut-off mid-conversation because your phone card ran out of money? Now, TalkLoop provides the same savings as calling cards, but offers a convenient and continuous service that eliminates the hassles of phone cards.

How does TalkLoop work?
  1. Dial one of our access numbers (search your access number here)
  2. Enter your PIN number. It is present in the MyAccount section.
  3. Domestic calls: Enter 1+ destination number or International calls: Enter 011 + country code + city code + destination number

Cell Phone users: Please do not push any button after entering the destination number following our voice prompt. If you push the call, send, flash or end button, your cell phone carrier will take that as a new number to be dialed and it will go through their network and you will get billed by them. TalkLoop.com is not responsible for these charges on your cell phone bill.

There are couple of safe checks to avoid this problem:

1. Disable international dialing on your cell phone by calling your cell phone provider. OR

2. Enable OneTouch dial feature on our service to dial one digit 1,2 etc instead of the international number. That way, even if the call mistakenly goes out to your cell providers network, it wont get completed. OR

3. Donot push any button after dialing the international number when your hear our prompt to enter the destination number.

Do I need to enter a PIN to make my phone calls?
No. When you sign up with TalkLoop you can register up to 6 phone numbers from which you use this service (home, cell phone, office, etc). When making calls from these registered numbers, dial your access number and then dial your destination number, no PIN is necessary. However, a PIN will be supplied to you so that if you are making calls from a non-registered phone number, you can still receive TalkLoop's great low rates.

Do I need to notify/cancel my current phone company to use TalkLoop?
No. Because you access TalkLoop via a toll free access number, you do not need to notify your phone company of your choice to use TalkLoop, nor do you have to cancel your current long distance carrier. TalkLoop is a separate service from your current phone plan.

Why is prepaid long distance better than regular long distance service?
Prepaid long distance is advantageous for many reasons. By prepaying for your long distance you know exactly how much money you are spending at all times. There are no surprise charges or excessive phone bills come month-end. Most significantly, however, is that post-pay long distance providers spend up to 1/3 of your phone bill for collections and bad-debt retrieval? With prepaid long distance, this money goes directly towards lowering rates for your phone calls.
What types of payment methods does Talkloop accept?
Talkloop accepts the following payment methods:
  • Master Card
  • Visa
  • Paypal (Master Card | Visa | Discover | American Express | eCheck)
I don’t have credit card? How can I sign up?
No Problem. TalkLoop offers echeck (electronic check) facility to signup. You can use your existing PayPal account that contains your banking information and funds will be deposited with us in 48 hours after which you will be able to make calls.

Are the rates different for using toll-free versus local access numbers?
The rate for calling anywhere in the lower 48 states in the US is 2c using the local access numbers and 3.9c while using the toll-free numbers. The rates to international countries also vary depending upon the destination. Please click here to see all rates.

Can I call 500, 700, 800 or 900 numbers using TalkLoop?
TalkLoop can be used for calling anywhere in United States and internationally. However, it cannot be used to call 500, 700, 800 or 900 numbers or directory assistance.

How are my calls billed?
Calls are billed in one-minute increments. So if you talk for 10 seconds, it will be rounded to one minute. If destination party doesn’t pickup, we will not bill your account. However if answering machine or fax or some other device picks up, you will be billed for the duration of the call.

What is the SURCHARGE bill of 75¢ in my call detail history?
This is the payphone surcharge that is incurred if you are calling from a payphone using the toll-free number. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) allows companies that operate payphones to charge a fee for their services. And Talkloop is forced to pass on this amount to our customers. Calls made from the following locations may incur surcharge.

1. Public payphone
2. Hotels
3. College dormitory
4. Commercial phones

Can I see my account balance on the web?
Yes. You can always view your account balance at My Account - Account Activity. This displays all the recharges, credits and your current balance for your TalkLoop account.

Can I use TalkLoop's international services from a cellular phone?
Yes. You can use TalkLoop to call internationally from any cellular phone that is capable of calling a toll-free number. Regular airtime charges will apply as per your contract with your cellular provider.

When does my account expire?
Your account and PIN will expire 6 months from the day of the last successful call and will become disabled. However, the expiration date is automatically extended whenever you make calls or recharge. If an account balance becomes zero or negative and remains so for 30 days, that account will also be disabled immediately.
